The beginning was awesome. The set up was great. The first 3 minutes. Then it was incoherent, horribly acted movie for retards. I use that word for lack of a better one, and its true, the movie is made for the couch numbing, greasy chip eating pizza and beer guzzling reject, who loves movies that are utter atrocities.
‘call me snake’
Call you moron. Kurt Russell is probably one of the worst actors in the history of film. His movies are a joke and he is a joke. This film is so horrendous, I would rather go for a root canal without novacaine. Why AMC makes a mockery of themselves by playing OVER AND OVER AND OVER again films like this, and the horrid films of old Clint Eastwood is disgraceful, hardly lays claim to their use of the word, ‘Classic Movies’
What a disaster.
Edit: hours later did I just realize it was John Carpenter film. WOW I have to say out of all the directors in the industry, John Carpenter is absolutely atrocious.

If this isn’t THE worst movie of all time, it’s in the top 2 or 3. It’s almost unbelievable how badly this movie sucks. All involved should buy a spot in Prime-Time TV to apologize to the world for this putrid crap.

Sufficient movie to waist a couple hours downtime here in Afghanistan. That’s it though!

I first saw this movie in theaters when it came out a few years back and had really high hopes for the movie. I had been told time and time again how cool the first film was and read a few reviews saying that this film was just as good, and as I sat in the theater I wondered what kind of drugs the critics who liked this movie were on to have written positive reviews of it. This is easily one of the 10 worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of having to sit through. The script is horrible, the acting is horrible, the effects work is horrible, the direction is horrible, the [are we noticing a pattern here yet fellow readers?] movie is painfully horrible. I can not believe this movie got made with the script it had, nor can I believe that anyone could have seen this film and enjoyed it except for 11 year old boys who enjoy anything that has violence.

I don’t think I’ve ever written such a caustic review. But after watching this video, I have to say John Carpenter’s films are absolutely worthless. I’ve sat through a couple of his other movies like Vampires and Ghosts of Mars, and didn’t really see the point in all the gratuitous violence.
Like most of his other films, this film takes place in the future where the world a public junkyard and rusted out drums used as furnaces line the streets. The junkyard being Los Angeles (LA) in this film. Snake Plissken (Russell) has been blackmailed (injected with a toxin that will kill him in 10 hours) to do the government’s bidding to reobtain possession of a Electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) targetting unit (a sort of detonator) which has been stolen by the president’s daughter (who met up in a virtual reality world with a dangerous terrorist).
As far as movie special effects go, this was just plain unbelievably bad. I’ve generated better computer generated imagery in school than what was used in the film. Equally horrible was the dialogue and acting of the actors. Russell just grunts most of the time. About the only guy who provided some comic relief to this film was Steve Buscemi.
Please do not waste your money or your time on this film. I’m not kidding.
