DVD Encryption Software

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Many people do not realize that the DVD’s that they watch every single day actually have encryption software on them. No, this is not because the government is spying on you, but the movie makers are trying to prevent you from copying them!

The DVD encryption software is put onto the discs to prevent users from putting their files onto a portable hard drive or another disc. This means that the content on the disc will only stay on the disc and that if you want to get a copy for long term use you will purchase one at a store where the producers of the DVD will get the revenue from it.

While this is all a nice and legal idea, many people do not bother following it. Simply put, people do not want to give their hard earned money over for something that they can get just as easily by borrowing a friends DVD player for the evening. All that they have to do is simply hook up your DVD into their DVD burner, place a copy on their computer and then use it however they wish.

Still, some companies have tried to place DRM and other encryption on their DVD’s to prevent this. It does not work! As much as some people might hope for it to work, it is easily undone by people with the right tools. It just takes a little bit of time and effort in order to get the content off one of these DVD’s, that is all!

How To Convert And Burn iTunes Videos To DVD

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

The main problem with iTunes video is that the files are DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected, and as such, it is rather irksome to rip the files or convert to another format. But the question is, if you paid to buy the iTunes, you should be entitled to burn them all onto one DVD and enjoy them as you see fit. Hence the need to convert iTunes video to DVD, and so we list the software programs which enable you to do this.

This process is done in two stages. The first stage is to remove the DRM protection and turn the DRM protected iTunes files into an unprotected file in MP4 or other format. In the second stage, these unprotected files can be converted into a format suitable for DVD burning and burned onto a DVD using a DVD authoring tool.

Listed below are the software applications, which can be used to convert DRM protected iTunes files into unprotected MP4 files. For a listing of software programs to burn MP4 files into a DVD, please find programs that convert MP4 to DVD format.

Tunebite is a re-recording software which records your DRM protected iTunes files, as they are being played, into an unprotected format, such as MP4.

Using SoundTaxi, you can rip protected iTunes files into MP4 format, safely and legally. Supports batch conversions and drag-and-drop integration with windows explorer.

DRM dumpster is a freeware tool to remove DRM protection from iTunes and convert them to a format suitable for playing on portable video players.

Once you have a collection of unprotected MP4 files, use a DVD authoring tool to burn the files onto a DVD.

Creating DVDs from MP4 source files requires professional converting software because the emphasis here is on producing high quality and minimizing loss during the conversion process. As such, we focus here on tools such as the DVD Burning Xpress and TMPGEnc, which are built to create and burn high quality and professional DVDs.

The Xilisoft MP4 to DVD Creator allows for conversion from various video file formats including AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, Xvid, VOB, 3GP, ASF, MPG, MP4 into a DVD playable on a standard DVD player. Facilitates DVD authoring, PAL / NTSC specification and settings for video aspect ratios.

DVD Burning Xpress is a DVD authoring tool with editing, conversion and burning capabilites. You can take raw video footage or a collection of your favorite clips in various formats, including MP4 files, add and edit the files to include special effects, select particular segments, split or join videos and make a complete movie, ready for burning on to a DVD. Recommended for professional use.

The TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress encoder includes HD video support, high speed thumbnail scrolling, smart scene search and DVD video subtitling support. No other tool comes close to this one when you want to put together a high quality DVD from a collection of MP4 and other file formats. Needs an Internet connection and an NTFS file system on your IBM compatible PC. Does have a shareware or trial version, so you can fiddle around and get to know the customizations, before you dip into your pocket.

AVS Video Tools will convert video to and from most commonly used formats and burn the output onto a DVD. While this tool is more of a converter than a DVD authoring software, it does have a decent DVD burning engine with lots of goodies to play around with.

Ultimately, which of these or other MP4 to DVD converting tool similar to these you choose, will depend on whether you are focused on the conversion part or on ending up with a snazzy looking DVD.

Download Free Anti Spyware Software with Google Pack

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

There are a number of sites where you can download free anti spyware software on the internet today. However, not all the anti spyware software are genuine or actually addresses your spyware problem. Bottom line – you need to be careful where you download free anti spyware software. Luckily Google have provided a solution you can trust through their free Google Pack download.

The Google Pack is a collection of free software. In total there are over 10 programs including an anti virus program and a spyware remover. Google is clearly a company from whom you can download free anti spyware software in confidence.

Originally when Google Pack launched in 2006 a company called Lavasoft provided their “Ad-Aware” spyware removal product to include in Google Pack. Ad-Aware was already widely available on the internet. Its spyware scanning and removal abilities were adequate but by no means performed best in independent tests.

In 2007 Google replaced Ad-Aware with a new spyware removal software provided by a company called PC Tools. PC Tools have supplied Spyware Doctor Starter Edition which is based on the award-winning Spyware Doctor. Although the Starter Edition lacks some of the more advance active protection features of the full version it still retains the highly impressive scanning and removal capabilities. Spyware definition updates are also free.

Google Pack also contains a number of other excellent applications. In my opinion Spyware Doctor Starter Edition is a good enough reason to download Google Pack. There is no better place to download free anti spyware software than from Google! You can learn more from the link below. If you are looking to protect your computer there is nothing better for free on the market at the moment.

PSP Mp4 Downloads – Where to Download Mp4 Movies for PSP

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Since its launch several years ago, the PSP device has become one of the most popular portable devices. Thousands of PSP owners are using their Sony PlayStation Portable to watch movies, play games, listen to music and download all sorts of stuff such as photos and wallpaper. One of the most popular PSP downloads are mp4 movies and videos. Instead of worrying about converting your video files to MPEG-4 format that can be played by the PSP, you simply search for PSP mp4 downloads online. There are many different websites that are now offering mp4 movie and video downloads for PSP devices. You just have to know where to find these websites.

The best place to start when looking for PSP mp4 downloads is the major search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo. You can also try Ask.com. If you’re interested in a particular title you can do a specific search such as “Star Wars PSP mp4 downloads”. You can also do general searches just in case the provider hosts pages that are not indexed by the search engines. It’s a good idea to do searches on all the main search engines so that you can increase the chances of finding the files that you’re looking for. If the PSP mp4 downloads you’re looking for are only available on a members only website, then you may not find these files by doing a search on the search engines.

Another place where you can find out where to download mp4 movies for PSP is from forums, newsgroups and other download sites. People are always sharing this type of information so if you look hard enough you’ll find someone talking about a website which they like. If the discussion forum you’re visiting has a search function, use it to locate relevant discussions about PSP mp4 downloads. You’ll most likely find links to some PSP download sites that offer mp4 downloads. Many PSP websites offer a variety of downloads to their members including movies, music, and software and games so you don’t have to look specifically for a site that offers only PSP mp4 downloads.

Another good place to find PSP mp4 downloads is from articles posted online. Many discussions about PSP downloads also mention specific download sites that you may want to visit.

There are many types of PSP download websites. Some offer free clips and short films while others offer full length mp4 movies. Some of the ones that offer full length movies use file sharing software to distribute the files to different users since they often have thousands of users. Many of these sites are membership based so you would have to join as a member first before you can be allowed to get free access to free PSP mp4 downloads. Some websites don’t offer memberships but will sale you specific mp4 movies that you’re interested in.

I think we bought this 1.5+ years ago, and my daughter uses this all the time… and I mean all the time! It’s still working fine, unlike the other one we got before that broke down after maybe a year. The screen is big and clear, sound ok (althought it always defaults to very loud… maybe bacuse I don’t batteries anymore – see below). Small enough that we carry it all the time when tarveling (god send with kids).

The only down side is that battery doesn’t hold changes anymore (like 5 min max now) after no that long… so it’s always plugged in now. Having a hard time finding a replacement battery….

You Can Do DVD Duplication Of Old VHS Tapes

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Most of us still have old copies of VHS video tapes stacked on our home and office bookshelves just collecting dust. When was the last time you actually used your video cassette player? If you are like me, it has been sitting disconnected underneath my DVD player for more than a year.

If you are in the same boat, then you will be happy to know that the copying process of switching valuable content from VHS tapes over via DVD duplication is really quite easy. It’s a great way to preserve and also share your old tapes, whether personal or business related.

The process of converting to a DVD basically requires a VHS tape player, or a camcorder. Plug either the camcorder or the VHS tape player into your PC, if your computer has the ports for plugging in these types of devices in. You also need a minimum of 512 MB of RAM and a 2 GHz processor, plus about 20 GB of hard drive free space. And your computer also needs a CD-RW drive for the duplication process. You will also need a video editing software program.

There are several conversion options if you want to transfer VHS tapes to DVDs, and if produced properly, the DVDs can look even better than the original VHS tapes including formats such as VHS-C, SVHS, Hi8, regular, as well as Betas. Here are some tips for what to do.

First you will need to capture a VHS video to a computer video editing program using an analog-to-DVD converter. You would otherwise need to encode it to MPEG-2 format, then publish your DVD. This provides some flexibility to edit the video as you wish by adding transitions, music or special effects. One drawback is that it is time consuming.

You could also capture the video to your computer as an MPEG-2 using hardware capture devices that will convert VHS to MPEG-2, then author the DVD. Some inexpensive hardware analog-to-MPEG boxes offer good quality because the analog source video does not have to be converted to DV before it’s encoded to MPEG.

The fastest and easiest way to convert a VHS into a DVD is to connect your VHS VCR or camcorder to a standalone DVD recording device. This works like a VCR, and the VHS to DVD recorder basically gives you a DVD copy of your tape in real time. However it is important to make sure your analog video is of the best quality possible because any flaws in the original video tape might be magnified when encoded to MPEG-2 and then converted to the DVD.

It does not take much time for copying VHS to DVD. However if you are not inclined to take on this kind of project yourself, a DVD authoring and production house will be happy to do it for you via their own conversion and DVD duplication process.

How To Play Movies On An Apple Mac Computer

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

I got a question where someone asked me how to “play movies on Apple computer”. The answer to this depends on what you mean by playing movies.

The reason I’m mentioning this is because the person who asked just said they wanted to know “how to play movies on Apple computer” and didn’t mention if they meant a DVD movie, a movie they’d downloaded off the Internet, or a video file (or movie) on a web page. Depending on which they meant, the answer is a little different.

First off, let’s assume that when they said “play movies on Apple computer” that they meant a DVD movie.

Well, that’s a very simple answer: any Mac (Apple computers are called Macs, with specific models like iMac, MacBook, etc.) made in the last several years can play DVDs. 99% of the time, just pop the DVD in the drive, and DVD Player will open automatically and start playing the movie.

Worst case scenario, you’ll need to open your hard drive, then open the Applications folder, then look for the file DVD Player, and double-click it, and the movie will play. It’s very rare for you to have to do anything more than pop the DVD in the drive.

So another possible meaning for “play movies on Apple computer” would be a movie you’ve downloaded off the Internet. There’s a lot of different types of video files (video just means moving pictures, just like a movie) that are sent by email, or that can be downloaded off a web site.

If you want to play a movie or TV show you’ve bought from the iTunes Store, iTunes itself will play the movie using Quicktime. Quicktime is a program made by Apple for both their own Apple Mac computers, as well as for Windows PCs, and it comes automatically with iTunes.

Quicktime can play a lot of different types of video files, so it’s one way to play movies on Apple computer. If you’ve got a movie file that you got by email, or that you saved from a website, Quicktime will probably play it, and it is already installed on every computer made by Apple.

There are exceptions, so if you can’t play a video file (movie) when you double-click it, and Quicktime gives you an error message, then another option is the free VLC Player.

VLC Player is a free program that will play just about any type of video file you can get off the Internet, personally it’s my favorite way to play movies on Apple computers. VLC Player is also available for Windows.

Lastly, if the person who asked how to “play movies on Apple computer” was talking about playing the movie on a web page, then again, Quicktime will work for a lot of these movies, and VLC might do the trick too (although I’ve had problems in the past getting it to play movies that are “embedded” in web pages).

One of the most popular ways to put videos onto web pages is in Flash format. Flash Player is free, and comes already installed on most computers. As time passes, though, this looks likely to be replaced by “HTML5″ which will let your web browser play videos without having to add Flash Player or any other extra “browser plug-ins”.

Will Blu Ray Play HD Discs ?

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Blu-ray and HD DVD are competing disc storage formats looking to replace the standard DVD format. In effect, they look to supersede the standard DVD in terms of storage capacity. Although there is always a need to improve on an existing system, these two formats have received much attention because of the imminent appearance of high definition movies, video and television. Notably, high definition movies need more storage space and this is why a search for the next generation of DVD is occurring.

Blu ray and HD DVD are fighting it out to replace the standard DVD. Much research and development has gone into creating each format and various industry giants are adopting one or the other to put into their products.

Sony and Panasonic are two big consumer electronics companies that are going with Blu-ray. All their products will use the blu-ray technology.

Toshiba and NEC are supporting HD DVD and all their products will use HD DVD technology.

In terms of game consoles, the Sony Playstation 3 will use blu-ray and the Xbox from Microsoft will use HD DVD.

All these products will have backwards compatibility whereby they will be able to player the standard DVD’s. However, they will not play the competitors format of disc storage. Thus blu-ray will not be able to play HD disks and vice versa.

The truth is that many big companies have so much money invested in their products, that they would want to see the opposition fail, so the last thing they will be doing is making them compatible.

Having said this, Pioneer and LG made an announcement that they would be producing a dual blu-ray/HD DVD player. This will no doubt feature two individual readers, one for blu-ray and one for HD DVD. NEC have also recently announced that they are creating a chip that can be used as the processor behind a universal player that will be able to play both blu-ray and HD DVD’s. So things are happening, but you may have to wait a few years before you see products on the shelves and they might be expensive to begin with.

Websites to Download Full Movies – To Pay or Not to Pay?

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Type “download full movies” in any search engine and watch the smashing number of pages they return. A broad selection is a good thing, but sometimes it can really be overwhelming. So, what are the criteria of choosing a website to download full movies? There can be plenty of factors to consider, but for most people money is the No.1 concern.

There are quite a lot of websites advertising themselves as completely free. Just think – download full movies without paying a penny! Sure, it sounds like a fairly tale. Then, there are sites allowing one to download them at a certain fee. The fee is normally quite low and can be based either on a one-time payment for a life-long membership, or on a monthly basis just as any regular subscription. Another option is paying per download, but quite understandably, it is not the most popular one.

So, why paying any fee whatsoever if you can do this entirely free of cost? What makes people go for paid movie websites if there is such a huge line of free movie providers? The truth is – websites that offer their users to download all shows for free, may not be as good in reality as they are trying to make you believe. There are quite a few concerns about downloading free:

1. Chances are these sites are illegal.

Though many of them claim to be 100% legal and legitimate, unfortunately, it is not always so, and by using them to download full movies you are actually violating the law.

2. Legal yet free sites are less advantageous in terms of selection.

As a rule, if a free movie download site is legal, the selection of movies is quite limited. Though it can be counted in thousands and even millions, you will not find any recent blockbusters in their listings. Such websites are good to do this if you are after classics and want to create your own “old is gold” collection.

3. Movies available for free lack quality and take a lot of time to download.

Will you be able to enjoy a snowy picture? Unfortunately, that’s often what you get when you download full movies for free. To make things worse, the downloading process takes ages and may get interrupted in-between even if your Internet connection is good.

4. Free sites can be dangerous for your computer.

Just think – why would anybody give away full movie downloads for free? What do these websites get in return? Scary enough, the free stuff you get may seriously damage your computer with spyware and viruses you get during the downloading process. If nothing sounds really convincing, this fact should.

5. You get movies in a format you can’t use.

Some sites prove to be nothing but waste of time. You download a full movie, but can’t view it simply because the format is not supported by your computer media player or DVD player. You could try to search and download format converting software, but again, the process needs time and the results are simply not guaranteed.

In contrast with all the above-mentioned facts, membership or subscription websites allowing people to download full movies are completely safe and secure; they offer all the latest flicks and guarantee the quality. The downloading process takes a few minutes and the most popular formats are supported. In fact, you can download complete movies and watch them on your PC or burn a CD or DVD and view it on your regular DVD player.

So, it becomes obvious that the price (which is, by the way, very affordable) should not be the primary consideration, when you choose quality, convenience and 24/7 customer support. You can still try this from free sites at your own risk, but most likely, you will get disappointed and turn to greener pastures available at a few bucks.

Do not waste any more time at free sites. Check out the top membership services at my entertainment site today.
